Net Zero and Carbon Reporting

Below are the services and documentation that we have available for our customers who would like to take advantage of our Net Zero and Carbon Reporting Service.

Discovery Document

Make strategic decisions on investment to reduce energy use.
Determine the potential for microgeneration across the estate and the impact on Carbon.
Decide on a timeline of improvement measures to align with maintenance/ improvement budgets
Set building energy targets and reduce the performance gap.

Display Energy Certificate (DEC)

A DEC shows the energy performance of a building based on actual energy consumption as recorded over the last 12 months within the validity period of the DEC (the operational rating).
This rating is shown on a scale from A to G, where A is the lowest CO2 emissions (best) and G is the highest CO2 emissions (worst).
DECs for buildings larger than 1,000m2 also show the operational ratings for the previous 2 years, where available.

Energy Use Investigation

An energy use investigation is a bespoke product looking at where energy is used in a
building and making recommendations for improvement. Similar to the Discovery
Document, but unlike the discovery documents which provides estimations, the energy use
investigation is much more in depth and provides a more detailed and accurate report,
allowing you to more confidently:

Make strategic decisions on investment to reduce energy use.
Determine the potential for microgeneration across the estate and the impact on Carbon.
Decide on a timeline of improvement measures to align with maintenance/ improvement budgets
Set building energy targets and reduce the performance gap.

Streamline Energy And Carbon Reporting (SECR)

Public bodies do not fall under the new regulations, but they are subject to other legislation which requires carbon reporting.
It is worth noting that charities, not-for-profit companies or others undertaking public activities – such as companies owned by universities, academies or NHS Trusts – will need to check whether they meet the above qualifying criteria.
Private sector organisations which fall outside of the scope of the new regulations are encouraged to voluntarily report in a similar manner.

Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)

The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) pays customers for renewable electricity they have generated and put into the grid. It replaces the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme
There are five eligible low-carbon technology types for the SEG. If you have one of these installed, you may be able to benefit from the SEG:
Solar photovoltaic (solar PV)
Wind
Micro combined heat and power (micro-CHP)
Hydro
Anaerobic digestion (AD)
These installations must be located in Great Britain and have a total installed capacity (TIC) of no more than 5MW, or no more than 50kW for Micro-CHP.
